Facebook or Faultbook?

Social Media is a relatively new phenomenon and because of this, it is there is not a clear set of ethics for it. For example, a doctor makes the ethical choice to not resuscitate. What does Social Media have to make ethical decisions on? Well, your security and privacy for one.

Let’s talk about Facebook. Most people know that fb’s privacy policy is forever changing which in turn leaves us vulnerable to the online world. When you make a choice to have your profile private, you assume Facebook will honor that. But on numerous occasions, the policy changes have reset the privacy settings. This is NOT ok. Now, if you post something on Facebook and get fired for it because you friended your boss, which is YOUR fault.

Facebook has the obligation to its customers to be transparent with its policies and let us know when they are changes.  They cannot disregard the settings we, as customers, choose to put on our profiles. They should not be able to leave us vulnerable. With this said, even if they inform us, it that still an ethical decision?  Watch the above video to find out.
