What concerns you most about social media ethics?

The most concerning problem I have regarding the social media ethics is how the value of privacy is no longer considered as a virtue. Media has exposed every little detail about us not only to the world, but share our information to other companies as well. Yes, perhaps in Facebook we can lock our profile setting and our pictures, but we cannot deny that we have given certain personal information to Facebook already, by clicking the button like to a certain company like, “Victoria Secret” for instance. This information will then be used to data our interest and buying habit, and as we browse Facebook there will be advertisings around the column regarding “Victoria Secret” or any products that are related to it.
This also happens to certain application, where if we want to open articles or play games, we then must agree to the terms and condition where the our scores or what we read can be posted on our Facebook wall, and that the application can used our information and it will be kept “confidential”. Well yes of course, confidential for the company to start spamming our wall, and email with their promotions. It’s a very smart way of tricking the public as we rarely read the terms and conditions applied because of the length of page and our ignorant. Media uses this as an advantage to take control over the advertising and spam posted on the pages of the website we open.
What is even creepier is how the media stalks what website we open. For instance, if you are looking at a certain bag from the designer’s website, then if you look carefully, you will see how the ads around you is all related with the bag, and this creates the tendency for potential customer to be interested and increase the purchase rate. This is unethical and is becoming a major concern now. People feel uncomfortable when opening websites and sooner or later they will become annoyed with the ads. This has happened with pop up ads, where the internet software has the program to block these pop ads now, so then the same thing may also happen later in the future regarding the ads. These stalking and forcing tendencies have to end as both disturb one’s privacy while surfing the web.
