A Cup of Coffee in Seattle

I have been in Seattle for 5 years so far.  The reason why I picked Seattle for my education was simply coffee.  My study abroad agent asked me what I expected from this “long-term trip”, and all I answered, “I want to drink a cup of coffee everyday with friends.”  “Alright, then Statrbucks is from Seattle, so they should have good coffee there.”  This is the only reason why I ended up studying here.  Therefore, I had explored all over in Seattle to get the best coffee, and what I found was Espresso Vivace.  They moved their Broadway store couple years ago, but remain their taste of coffee.  Of course, I like them on Facebook.

I like Vivace for couple reasons. They have obviously better taste compared to Starbucks (You really have to try!), but they do not charge the premium taste on customers, their coffee is same price with Starbucks.  Also, they do care about environment, not like Starbucks, and they do care about fair trade, not like Starbucks.  Starbucks is saying they do care about nature and fair trade, but they are simply too large to manage everything perfectly.  Moreover, barista training is not enough in Starbucks because of their huge number of stores. I have liked both Starbucks and Espresso Vivace on Facebook with two different reasons.  I wanted to get deals from Starbucks, but I wanted Vivace to succeed their business as they do what I believe that it is good.

In this Information Technology era, big corporations are spending so much money on advertisement to generate more sales.  However, the voice from people who care about quality and real values also remains in this era by using social media.
