Seattle Aquarium on social media

The Seattle Aquarium is a nonprofit organization which is the 9th largest Aquarium in the United States. It was founded in 1977 and expanded in 2007. The Aquarium has six major exhibits featuring its species collection which are Window on Washington Waters, Life on the Edge, Pacific Coral Reef, Puget Sound Fish and Dome Room, Puget Sound Orcas Family Activity Center, and Marine Mammals.
The Seattle Aquarium has its own Facebook page, and there are now 14,832 people like the page. The page provides information about the Aquarium such as the address, contact number, and opening hours for visitors. In addition, there are also a lot of videos and pictures on their Facebook page. By updating videos and posting the pictures of the creatures, it helps the Aquarium to attract more visitors, and it also help masses to have a better understanding of the different species within the Aquarium. Moreover, Seattle Aquarium posts recent events on its Facebook page. In their Facebook album, there are a lot of different pictures such as the daily lives of different animals and the titbit of some certain events. At the same time, visitors who have been there can post their opinions on the Seattle Aquarium Facebook page to share with others. Facebook not only helps vistors to understand more about the Aquarium, but it also helps the Aquarium to get feedbacks from their visitors.

The Seattle Aquarium is also on Twitter. It now has 1,224 tweets and 4,352 followers on Twitter. Basically, its Twitter and Facebook share the same information. The only different is, the information on the Twitter is more brief and immediate, and the information on the Facebook is more detailed.

The Seattle Aquarium has a channel on Youtube as well. It has joined Youtube for around three years, and it now has 198 subscribers, and the total amount of video views are 331,405. I think the video posts are far less than what I expected. There are only about 39 videos that are uploaded by the Aquarium. I think they can post more interesting video about more lovely creatures in the Aquarium to attract more "viewers" on Youtube, and I believed that some of the viewers will become their visitors.

Using different kind of internet media to share the information is just like free advertising since people grab the information from the internet media on a daily basis. Also, by reviewing new through media tools, people will have a better understanding before visiting. At the same time, Seattle Aquarium could receive feedbacks from social medias, and use it as a guide to improve their service as well.
