My perspective of Twitter and Tully's is one of an outsider. Examining their public relations strategies via Twitter seems to be a very efficient way to get a snapshot into what they do in general, and how their operations unfold in near-real-time. That being said, even if I was a fan of Twitter and Tully's I'm not sure I would care enough to want to hear about coffee every day, I think drinking it does the trick...
On the other hand Twitter seems to be a good place to keep track of promotions, news and events surrounding a given company. Rather than subscribing to email newsletters, and subsequently getting bogged down in long winded boring bi-weekly emails, a Twitter user can simply subject themselves to a continuous feed of joyful brief chirps.
Tully's Tweets seem to cover topics ranging from coffee tips to customer giveaways.
For example:
Congrats to our recent sweepstakes winner, Erin Powell of Tacoma, who won an iPad! Thank to everyone who filled out our customer survey!
For Tully's Twitter seems to be a natural fit. The technological prowess of yuppie Satellites who seek out small batch handcrafted coffees surely extends into the realm of Twitter. In short, Tully's would be especially foolish to not tap into the potential Twitter offers. As far as their LinkedIn page is concerned, I was not terribly impressed. This note, "This LinkedIn Company Profile was created by LinkedIn and is about Tully's Coffee. This page is not endorsed by or affiliated with Tully's Coffee" didn't really inspire me to look into their page any further. Perhaps they could use some work here, but then again, is LinkedIn a promotional or professional tool? Or both?
