Jamie Oliver: Online Branding Expert

I was searching of a good example of online branding when I came across this blog article: 7 Examples of Kick-Ass Personal Branding.

From there, I found out that Jamie Oliver was one of seven people that were considered to be kick-ass at personal online branding. I couldn't help but to bring it up, as I have seen Jamie Oliver on one of his cooking shows. I know that he is quite well-known for his career as a chef, but not as a thought leader in online branding. Appearing in TED talk and even winning the TED prize, that really started his journey in becoming a true media powerhouse. He was sharing his stories from his anti-obesity project that wishes to teach every child about food despite our ignorance of food in our country and especially in schools. "Your child will live a life ten years younger than you because of the landscape of food that we've built around them." (Jamie Oliver)

Not only is he a well-known chef, he is also an activist. He even started his own food revolution, the intention is to change and give the truth of a healthier diet despite our failing food system that the British and we Americans have become accustomed to.

He's a talented chef, entrepreneur, likable, seen as a public figure and is using his influence in the food world by doing his best to change the way we see food, specifically to improve the food and knowledge of a healthy diet in our schools. Our countries obesity and childhood obesity is at an all time high and rising, as is juvenile diabetes. These debilitating health issues could be completely avoided by eating a healthy diet. The unfortunate truth is that what we're marketed to eat and want is causing us to choose the wrong foods, like soda, fast food, fried food, over-processed snacks and lots of sugar /artificial sweeteners. It doesn't help the matter that these bad choices are also the cheapest. But Jamie is trying to change this and has created a lot of hype and himself as a brand by being strong in his convictions, with a good cause, connections and lots of effective marketing. With the use of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, Jamie has successfully able to influence many people and create a powerful online branding for himself. He also has his own website: JamieOliver.com that has an interactive online petition that is free to sign to show your support for this cause.
