NewEgg - Online Customer Service DOES Exist!!!

Ever purchase something online only to receive a defective product?  The return & exchange process can be lengthy, tedious, and quite simply a pain in the @$$.  Especially if you're the one that has to incur shipping costs - nothing stings more when the shhhtuff you return has a penalty cost.  Now I know customer reviews of a product can help to avoid such headaches, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to encounter a product you need that has polarized reviews and few substitutes.  As is the case with upgrading RAM on a computer.  There are just a handful of manufacturers that have little presence in brick and motar stores, thus rely heavily on e-commerce.

Given this scenario, I think I've found the solution - NewEgg.com.  Last year, I purchased G.Skill RAM from NewEgg in order to upgrade my 2010 17" Macbook Pro.  The process was straightforward and while the reviews were polarizing, it still had the best overall rating.  But given my terrible luck in life it was only necessary to receive a defective product.

Unlike many online retailers, NewEgg's return and exchange process is thankfully pleasant.  Just report the defect within the return police (30 days), then state whether you want a refund or exchange, and slap on the return shipping label that the original package came with.  UPS or FedEx will arrive the next business day to pickup the package from your doorstep.  After that was done, I went ahead and wrote a product review to state my disappointment with G.Skill's poorly made RAM.  Surprisingly, within 48 hours of my posting the manufacturer replied to my complaint and contacted NewEgg to authorized a 25% discount on the exchange!  Now that's freakin' awesome!

Within a couple weeks I received the replacement and a credit towards my account.  No fuss, no hassle, and surprisingly convenient.
