Mobile Opportunities for WTIA

While it's a well-established fact that businesses need to adapt to the increasing demand for mobile, WTIA is in a different situation. WTIA is a business-to-businesses institution: it doesn't need an app for customers, product-related games, click-and-mortar capability, etc. WTIA has a few opportunities but is exempt from the multitude of innovations and demands asked of traditional business-to-consumer companies.

WTIA TV
If WTIA were to get its video format updated and presentable, they might consider developing a mobile app that allows members to stream conferences and previously recorded footage via mobile. For example TED has a mobile app that allows users to do just that. I think TED is an excellent example for WTIA to use when rebranding and designing its videos to have a more professional, cinematic appeal. TED separates its videos into Featured, Archives, and My Talks allowing users to see what's new, what's already happened, and what they've already noted. TED also offers Radio, which is another feather WTIA might consider.

WTIA Member App
WTIA might consider making an app to allow communication and interaction between itself and other members more accessible. Perhaps it could integrate with LinkedIn. Without being a member, I'm not sure what other capabilities it should offer. Perhaps a calendar of upcoming events that can sync with your existing calendar, a way to post upcoming events on a shared calendar, a capability to pay dues/renew membership online, and a way to share important news and updates within members only.

Other than that, I'm not sure if there are many mobile opportunities for WTIA. Mobile is generally good for reaching individuals, and WTIA serves companies. This produces a new challenge for business to business companies, and I don't believe it should be a priority for WTIA.
