I recently talked about online
branding, and mentioned that Nike does a great job at it. They not only excel
at online branding, they also give the customer a pleasant online shopping
experience. Recently, I had another great online shopping experience with Nike.
I recently purchased a pair of running
shoes on the NikeiD website, which is the site where you can customize a Nike
shoe based on your preferences. The tool is easy to follow. You start off by picking
the shoe you want to customize. Then you choose which colors you want different
parts of the shoe to be, and there are many different choices. For example, you
can choose from as many as seven different colors for the upper, overlay,
underlay, lining, lace, and midsole parts of the shoe. Once you are done
customizing the shoe, you select gender, size, width, quantity, and add it to
your cart. During checkout they recommend items such as socks. You can then
check out with Nike, or with PayPal.
The experience was good because the
entire process was simple; from picking a shoe, to customizing, to checking
out. Sure you can buy a regular Nike shoe at any retailer that sells Nike
shoes, but if you want the shoes custom made, you have to order from Nike
directly. You won’t be disappointed.
