In the article “How Mobile is Rapidly Evolving the World” by
Forbes, there are three important takeaways of strategies to prepare for the
mobile future. First, is to deliver a full-featured mobile-first engagement
that aligns with the desktop experience. Second, is to evaluate opportunities
to integrate your existing information and collaboration tools into your mobile
devices. And third, to measure, measure and measure again what’s working and
not working. It is highly important to have a good system in place and to always
monitor errors and be able to consistently fix them.
As mobile users are beginning to incline dramatically, we can
see that the shift from desktop to mobile and tablet pc are highly increasing.
Also to keep in mind that in 2011, Apple sold more iOS (iPads and iPhones) with
156 million, than all Macs that were ever sold with 122 million. With those
statistics in mind, we ought to be able to adapt to the fast pace mobile
technology. We have to go where the customers are going. In today’s world,
everything is changing rapidly, thus mobile technologies are disrupting
traditional business. In order to stay competitive and beat out the market, we
have to go where the consumers are.
My client company is Big Fish Games Inc. This company is a
provider of Internet media delivery software and game services. I would compare
it to Zynga, as many of you might be familiar as the game provider that is in collaboration
with Facebook. Since Big Fish Games is a new gaming company, we already know that
mobile technology is important, as it is part of their source of income. Their
main source of income is through the sales of their games that come from many
platforms such as, desktop PC, Mac, the iPhone and the iPad. In June 2011, they
launched an app called Big Fish Games Game Finder. It is an app created to give
users the ultimate new way of finding their specific games to what types of game
genres that they like. Big Fish Games has a gigantic number of games, where
they proudly announce that they create a new game every single day! With so
many games to choose from, it is often difficult to find and pick the one that
you love most. But by having the game finder, it enables users to easily
identify what game that they love most. In the app, there is an option to find
games from each platform of PC, Mac, iPhone and the iPad. There is also an option
to find new releases, top games, and all games. I think they are ahead of
competitors in terms of adapting to the mobile technology. They truly understand
where the customers are going, and that is the essential part of marketing,
being able to target their audience well and to effectively market their games
around their customers’ wants and needs.
