Activision - Pioneering Online Branding

Looking for a pioneer of online branding?  Well look no further, as Activision's Call of Duty franchise has a stronghold on the gaming industry.  Now don't underestimate the franchise's impact because since 2007 their annual game releases have generated over a billion dollars in sales with nearly a 25% year over year growth.  At any given time there are over a million people around the globe playing their latest first-person shooter.

The Call of Duty franchise is so engrained into modern popculture that it has given rise to a whole new industry of YouTube video game commentators that dissect, critique, and praise every aspect of the game.  To top it off, Activision's next release, expected to hit stores in November, already garnered over 12 million fans on their game specific Facebook Page, more than 375,000 followers on Twitter, and an excess of half a million subscribers on their YouTube Channel.  Come on!  The game is not even out yet and people are already in a craze.
