"Liking" Cabela's

It is rare that I will “Like” a company on Facebook as I rarely see the reason behind it.  I find that I tend to not use any of the promotional ads that they display, and as broke college student planning a wedding and paying a mortgage, I don’t spend a lot of money on random items.  That being said, a company that I just recently “Liked” is Cabela’s.
As an outdoor enthusiast I found that the Cabela’s page is a great source for updates on store openings, current promotions, and most importantly links to educational sites.  They tend to have a regular stream of links to organizations providing online training for species recognition, tips for appropriate attire for season specific hunts and fishing tournaments, and blogs for tips on how to be more effective and environmentally friendly when hunting and fishing.  One of the more interesting portions of their page recently has been the information about events and promotions for the opening of their new store in Marysville.
Another thing that Cabela’s does that I appreciate is they use the information gathered from their Facebook surveys to better the shopping experience in their stores.  While I tend to not buy a lot these days, I appreciate that when I walk in to a store they are featuring items or activities that have recently been discussed on their Facebook page.  For example; the last time that I entered Cabela’s they were featuring a professional fisherman discuss tips and tricks for having a successful day on the water.  This “class” was a result of a Facebook survey that showed people in the northwest (sport fishermen) were using techniques that produce results, but not the best results.  The professional pointed out specific things that many of us were not doing that could allow us to meet our catch limit every time we go out.
